english language proficiency
english is the primary language of instruction at mitt. in order to be successful in a program, it is important for all students to have a level of english proficiency that will allow them to participate in all aspects of the program. as such, an applicant whose primary language is not english or who is not from an english exempt country, must demonstrate english language proficiency.
an application will not be assessed and processed until supporting documentation demonstrating english language proficiency has been provided.
proficiency in english may be demonstrated by one of the following methods:
- writing an accepted english language proficiency test, or successfully completing an approved english language training program
- completing the required level of mitt’s english language institute’s (eli) english for academic purposes (eap) program
- meeting one of the identified english language proficiency waiver criteria
- completing the required level at an english language training program with one of mitt’s pathway partners
please review the program categories1 to determine the specific english language proficiency requirements that must be met for each mitt program. not all programs accept all proficiency methods, so it is important to refer to the specific program category to determine what methods of english language proficiency are accepted.
